Battle for the Paddle

My first football game of the year was the Battle for the Paddle between Bullock Creek and Meridian. Meridian was down for most of the game but came back to win it in the final minutes to take home the paddle (which is literally a full size canoe paddle).

Road trip: Jasper

Vacation

A side effect of staying in the same place for two years is making some fantastic friends.  The Vercellino family was kind enough to invite Sean and I down to their cottage for a weekend and we had a blast hanging out, boating and eating very, very well.  To be honest, I hardly picked up the camera.  But here are a few snaps from that trip downstate.

Down is up

Ann Marie Moolenaar, 15, left, and Jenna Lee, 15, hang upside down while riding the Fire Ball roller coaster at the Midland County Fair on Tuesday. Also riding with them was their friend, Sofia Lobo, 15. All H.H. Dow High School students, they said that they had ridden the ride the year before but it was their first time this year on the coaster.

Gold Wing Glow

Roy Hayward of Auburn, far left, looks on as Gold Wing Road Riders Association judges, clockwise from left, Wolfgang Gless, Lloyd Glydewell, Connie Gless, Rudy Copeland and Becky Glydewell look for burnt out bulbs while judging his trike in the light show competition at the Midland County Fairgrounds on Saturday. "It took me three months of work to install," Hayward said about the L.E.D. lights that adorn his 2006 Honda Gold Wing Trike.
